Position: Senior Telecommunications Project Manager

Exp Level : 10 to 15 years experience in managing telecommunication and/or network design and installation projects with at least 3 years in the oil industry

Qualifications : Graduate in Science preferably IT, Computer Sciences, CCNA. PMP Certification will be an advantage

Skill Sets :

International project management experience.

Planning, designing and execution of NW implementation in the Oil and Gas Upstream and Down Stream environments.

Knowledge & experience working with standard networking equipment for LAN/WAN

Understanding of networking and infrastructure operations

Job Description:

The Project Manager will be responsible for working with the clients prime construction manager and the Omani end-customer to design, deploy and maintain wireless infrastructure in support of Omani oil filed operations. The Project Manager will lead the team in the RF and network design and perform overall project management of the project including installation, commissioning and maintenance. During some of the design phase and most of the deployment phase the work will be performed in Oman. This individual will be skilled in managing telecommunication and network design and installation projects.

Qualifications

Graduate in Science preferably IT, Computer Sciences and Master degree in earth science, Geology ,Geophysics or Bachelor degree in Petroleum engineering

Skill Sets

Knowledge and experience of oil industry development and production geo science environments with emphasis in data management using mainstream geophysical, geological and/or petroleum engineering / reservoir characterization applications

Good understanding of relational database technology; good UNIX and PC skills.

Strong interpersonal skills are also required for interfacing with internal customers and vendor representatives.

Good facilitation and presentation skills required for interaction with senior technical and business unit management personnel.

Experience with successful implementation of geo science data ownership and QC in an operating environment; familiarity with managing large volume of data and/or real-time data; project management experience; document management experience.

Are you the proverbial ‘difficult employee’?

Hi Friends,
Last month I had a meeting with one of my old friends, who is now VP–HR in a fairly large IT setup. He informed me that he is planning to lay off a couple of hundred people in his
company, in a phased manner. What surprised me was that he mentioned that out of them around 80% are ‘difficult employees’. I wondered aloud what was his definition of a ‘difficult
employee’. .
In every department/organization there are few people who are arrogant, demeaning (to others), insubordinate, not trustworthy, (always) cribbing and unproductive.
It sure means that ‘difficult employees’ are at the first place in the queue when it comes to being shown the door.
Based on his observation and my research, I am listing a few traits/signs that can label you as a ‘difficult employee’. They are:
1. Work is your foe/ additional responsibility:
I, like many people, don’t like to work long hours or during weekends. But in a down economy & competitive environment your approach towards this additional work plays a huge role in
whether you are a valuable employee of the organization or not. Organizations generally perceive an employee’s worth by evaluating his/her work ethics.
2. Your personal problems are public knowledge:
If most of your colleagues are aware of all your personal problems, from hole in the shoe, missed breakfast, argument with friend, mismatched nailpolish, then this point is for you. No one
is really interested in these kind of regular updates.
No one likes ‘difficult employees’ in their team, organization. Every organization wants an employee who can add value. So watch your approach in office, who knows someone is preparing
list to lay off!
