Sr. Manager (Team) Noida and Gurgaon

Department: Microsoft Patent Research Services (MPRS)
Job Title: Sr. Manager (Team Manager)
Reporting To: VP operations
Direct Reports: Microsoft Team (Patent Analyst & Admin team)
Location: Noida and Gurgaon

Principal Purpose of the Job:
Sr. manager is the overall Microsoft Account Manager and acts as a single point of contact as well as being responsible for overall delivery.

Primary responsibilities include:
Overall accountability for deliverables while coordinating and working closely with the management team to ensure that processes are followed and service levels are delivered

Proactive Account Management
-Serve as a primary client liaison and practice leader ensuring all services defined, developed and implemented meet client business objectives
-Projecting transaction volume and planning for sufficient capacity to meet service requirements at an optimal efficiency.
-Evolve and implement strategies relating to operations : Manage process performance on productivity, effectiveness and customer satisfaction metrics.
-Set and excel standards for timely delivery and consistent quality: Conduct projects as part of the development plan; evaluate process against benchmarks from high – performing organizations.

People Management (Large Team) - People Management of the Team including development of Individuals and coordinating with support functions to maximize retention

Operational management of the Team which will include management of smaller focused teams

-Excellent knowledge of US and (preferred) overall IP domain from a Legal Perspective
-Performance management including metric analysis and coaching
-Manage individual and team objectives in accordance with standard service level agreements
-Sound technical exposure to provide guidelines in complex projects preferred
-Team building and motivational skills; Training / mentoring experience
-Experience in HR related issues
-Experience in staff recruitment and implementation of staff retention policy

KRAs
-Motivating staff to exceed quality and quantitative measures.
-Assist staff in developing the skills to take on new and more complex opportunities
-Ensuring staff receiving adequate training to meet their job requirements plus opportunities for career advancement and are continually provided with necessary tools to enhance their performance.
-Ensuring policies are followed consistently with the overall company policies.
-Identifying and developing system and process improvement to decrease costs and enhance service levels.
-Capacity Management: Coordinating closely with client and internal management in developing methods to track performance and capacity to deal with work volume volatility.
-Employee Relations Catalyst: To inculcate and manage company’s culture and quality service standards throughout the workforce.
-Promoting a continuous improvement culture with the workforce via training, process changes, structural changes, to make each process best practice at any point of time.
-Client Relations: Ensure related customers’ services levels are consistently achieved or exceeded that provides cost and service advantages.

Skills/ Experience Required:
Technological Depth in Computer Science preferred
· At least 5+ years Work experience in research, industry or academia.
· At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in IP with a very good understanding of Patent Law
· Excellent communication skills.
· Exposure and skills in and conversant with following types of patent related projects will be preferred:
· Patent Invalidity Analyses, Prior Art Search, Patent Landscapes, Offensive and Defensive Reviews, Drafting Office Action Responses, Drafting Patent Applications, Non-infringement Analyses, Creating Patent Taxonomies, Freedom to Operate Searches, Directed Prosecution Analyses, Claim Charts, Specification Maps, Claim Construction, Acquisition Due Diligence, and Prosecution History Summaries.
· Strong exposure to project management
· Interfacing with clients on a regular basis
· Strong talent in giving feedback and coaching
· Build relationships with internal customers
· Efficient interface between team and senior management
· Ability to multi-task
· Able to delegate effectively with strong follow up skills
· Sound decision making abilities
· Business awareness and focus
· Awareness of budgeting and working within financial constraints.
