Job Description:
Position Title : UNIX Engineer
Department : Technology
Reports To : Director of Technical Operations

Position Summary:
Responsible for installation, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and
support of Unix, Backup, and Storage Infrastructure.

Primary Functions:
* System administration functions including hardware/software
installation, configuration, and maintenance; capacity/disk space
management; and user access administration on Solaris 8,9,10, AIX 5.3, and
Red Hat Linux.
* 24x7 on call production support of all Unix Hosted applications.
* Installation and operational / troubleshooting support of production
Weblogic / Apache / Samba / IBM MQ / SAN / Backup / Java based applications.
* Support and operation of Veritas Netbackup in a heterogeneous Unix /
NT environment
* Hardware and software support/administration of Postfix / Bind / NDM
(Connect Direct) / Control-M / CVS / Interwoven / IBM MQ Series / Samba /
Veritas Volume Manager / SAN / Oracle 8,9, 10G / SAS / Veritas Clustering.
* Provide support for complete analysis and capacity management for
the UNIX, Backup and Storage environment including Business Continuity
planning, scheduling of backups and necessary restores/refreshes, monitoring
of backups with notification and action plans, and support for off site
vaulting.
* Provide root cause analysis of production issues, investigation &
implementation of security initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, and Competencies:
Relevant systems administration background
* Veritas Netbackup skills, including integration into a SAN
environment
* Experience with LDAP a plus
* Experience with Linux a plus
* Experience with Perl a plus
* Experience with IBM MQ Series a plus
* Familiarity with banking requirements for IT preferred
* Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced, dynamic
environment
* Excellent oral and written communications skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to display strong sense of urgency
* Project management skills a plus
