Career Tracks
Management Consulting Track - Business and Engineering School Graduates
One of our goals is to hire professionals early in their career with a Masters degree in Business or Engineering and groom them for a long and successful consulting career at Trianz. When hiring at the masters degree level, we look for professionals with an outstanding educational profile, an average 3-5 years of industry experience in at least one of our firm's solution areas, and a track record marked by strong analytical skills and a record of achieving results, as well as a desire to make a personal impact and a commitment to building relationships.
Technology Consulting Track - Experienced Consulting Professionals
If you are a fresh business or engineering school graduate you would most likely be hired at the Consultant/Senior Consultant level.
You will be assigned to a client team made up of a Project Manager and other consultants. When there is a need for deep expertise in a specific industry or functional area, a subject mater expert will work with the team. Your core responsibilities will include analyzing data, providing fact-based insights, framing hypotheses, developing recommendations, and making presentations to client and Trianz leadership teams.
You and your team will most likely work from the client's offices, which will allow you to spend more time with client team members and gain greater insight into the dynamics of their business.
As your skills and experience grow, you will take on larger and more complex aspects of an engagement and start to develop into a leadership role. Generally, your next step from consultant is to the position of Manager/Senior Manager, where you will manage the day-to-day activities and progress of the team along with having primary responsibility for communicating with senior clients.
You will have many opportunities to shape your career. Most consultants join as generalists and sample a variety of engagements in their first couple of years here, but some bring expertise that allows them to specialize right away.
After a few years, you will start developing deep knowledge and expertise focusing on either a particular solution or a functional area. As part of your growing expertise, you will likely contribute to the development of practice-specific knowledge, which often takes the form of contributing to internal white papers and published articles. These contributions help you to build your reputation as an expert in a particular area within and outside of the firm.
Your Team
As a new consultant, you will work closely with a small team of four to five people. Over the life of an engagement, you should expect to spend time gathering and analyzing data, problem solving with your team, and interacting with client team members.
Every member of the team is expected to make a significant contribution. From team brainstorming sessions to client presentations, your team will look to you to participate actively by voicing your opinions, challenging findings, responding to client concerns, and presenting recommendations. Each of us, from the most junior consultant to the CEO, has a voice and an obligation to use it.
Working in a team is often an intense experience. You'll spend long hours working on thorny problems. But many consultants say that working with the team is the most enjoyable part of an engagement. The very intensity of the work pulls people together and forges relationships that will last you a lifetime.
You will find that teams are made up of a diverse mix of people from many different countries and varied educational and professional backgrounds. This diversity not only makes our work enjoyable, but it also enables us to bring a broad range of perspectives to solving our clients' problems.
Work-Life Balance
We provide our clients with the highest levels of service - that means we work hard. But we know that you have a life outside of work, and that it is important to you to have the flexibility to balance the demands of both parts of your life.
Each team decides its own preferred work schedule and style. However, it is clearly understood by all team members that client satisfaction comes first, and providing all deliverables by agreed deadlines is a key aspect of the Trianz consulting experience.
Management Consulting Track - Experienced Consulting Professionals top
Helping business leaders execute strategic initiatives requires experienced professionals. We are constantly hiring experienced consulting professionals to lead client engagements and emerge as the next generation of the firm's leaders. When hiring experienced consulting professionals, we seek individuals with 8-10 years of experience in two or more of our firm's solution or service areas. Prior consulting experience with a large firm is strongly desired.
Our firm eschews traditional hierarchies and our delivery services revolve around small fast-moving teams with a bias for action. Experienced hires would therefore not manage a large number of persons, but would actively collaborate with team members as well as play a hands-on role with both delivery and client interaction. Since our teams are small, each member's role is important.
Your role may be that of a Director, a Project Manager , a team member, or a subject matter expert who acts as the source for specific industry, functional or technological expertise. Your role will vary depending on the business needs of the moment. Whatever role you play, the expertise you bring will help ensure that the team delivers the greatest impact to our client.
Technology Consulting Track - Engineering School Graduates top
One of our goals is to hire professionals early in their career with an engineering degree or a post graduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. Typically, we look for an outstanding educational profile marked by strong analytical skills and a record of achieving results, as well as a desire for personal impact and a commitment to building relationships.
Entry Levels and Our Expectations From You
If you are a fresh engineering school graduate you would most likely be hired at Associate level in the USA, or at Trainee Software Engineer level in India. Prior experience, if any, would be factored in when deciding on the entry level.
You would be put on training and probation for a period of 6 months, during which you would complete at least two technology assignments.
As your skills and experience grow, you will take on larger and more complex aspects of an engagement and start to develop into a leadership role. Generally, your next step from associate is to the position of team leader, project leader and then the engagement manager, where you will manage the day-to-day activities and progress of the team along with having primary responsibility for communicating with senior clients.

* Judgment : Our consultants strive to deliver outstanding levels of client service, and must achieve this while handling multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines. This requires energy, determination, and judgment.
* Persuasiveness : During assignments, developing the support of many individuals becomes critical to developing and implementing high-impact recommendations.

What We Look For In A Resume top
Our firm attracts, cultivates, rewards and retains the top talent in the industry. As a rapidly growing firm, careers at Trianz offer multiple dimensions such as high-quality work, strong career direction, a great environment, and great rewards.
The resume is an important tool is communicating your skills and achievements. As the first step in assessing a candidate, we review the candidate’s resume. Based on this review, we develop a shortlist of candidates whom we invite to our interviewing process.
Your resume should reflect the sum and scale of your achievements. A resume should also give the reader a sense for who you are, as reflected in the activities and achievements you view as important in your life.
With this in mind, we have put together some tips on writing a good resume. We hope you find this to be helpful in your applications.
Layouts top
While we advise you to tailor your resume to the employer you are sending it to, here are some broad tips on the overall layout of a good resume:
* Neatly typed and clearly laid out.
* Use of a reasonably sized font (e.g., size 10 or larger) with a margin around the text for reviewer's notes.
* Basic formatting – very creative formatting will distract from the message.
* Checked grammar and spelling.
* Name and contact details at the top, with daytime and evening phone numbers and an e-mail address.
Ask friends from different backgrounds to read it for you. If they are impressed without being confused, you are off to a good start.
Resume Structure top
Our resume reviewers look for evidence of achievement in the four key skill areas outlined in The Skills We Look For(Link). A good resume structure includes the following elements:
* Education - This provides details of graduate undergraduate education.
o Include your degree subject, university, degree grades or GPA at each major milestone of your course (for example, Magna cum laude overall, Summa cum laude in first year) and any major prizes or awards, specifying key dates.
o You should also include any significant academic projects (e.g., senior thesis, major research work, etc.) that you feel helps illustrate your academic ability.
o Depending on your national background, it may be important that you provide details of your results in all subjects in key examinations (e.g.: High School Diploma, ‘A' levels, Baccalaureate grades).
o Applicants who have taken standardized tests such as the GMAT, LSAT, SAT, GRE, etc. should include their scores.
o Providing as much detail as possible here is key. If you studied in an academic system unfamiliar to most, try where possible to translate your result to help the reviewer understand (e.g., Top 2 percent of students nationally).
* Work Experience
o If you have work experience, emphasize what you have achieved in each major role beyond your key day-to-day responsibilities.
o We are most interested in the impact you have had in your career (e.g., the key things that changed because of your direct involvement).
o You may also describe unique skills and experiences that will help us understand the strengths that you bring to the table.
* Other Skills and Achievements
o We are very interested in any volunteer or charity work, or positions of responsibility in professional bodies - particularly where they demonstrate leadership, initiative-taking or commitment.
o Similarly, you should include leadership positions, significant involvement in extracurricular activities, and significant participation in sports, games, societies or hobbies. For example, a high level of achievement in a sport tells us something about your commitment and drive to achieve. Do not just tell us about your hobbies, tell us what you have achieved in pursuing them.
o Generally you should only include items that you feel will help us understand your strengths better.
* Languages
o Include any foreign languages for which you have business conversational ability or better.
o For languages, a good idea is to rate yourself as either basic, competent or fluent.
The Hiring Process top
As a management consulting firm, Trianz has demonstrated success and rapid growth despite operating in a tough economic environment. We are constantly looking for new talent to join us. If you are looking for a challenging environment to build your experience in execution and an exciting consulting career, we encourage you to contact us by email
We employ a wide range of interviewing methods. In particular, you should be prepared for the following:
* Case Studies – We use case studies which reflect typical business problems. Case studies should be approached as dialogues, rather than tests. There is no perfect answer, and candidates are assessed more on their approach and thought process, rather than on the specific answers generated.
* Experience Interviews - During interviews, we examine a candidate’s past accomplishments in depth. Candidates therefore need to be prepared to describe in detail their most important experiences, focusing on the specific role played and actions implemented.
We use these elements to interview candidates
* Screening interviews over the phone or on campus
* At office interviews with consultants and leaders from Trianz
* Technology Assessments (for Technology candidates)
* Case-study analyses
* Screening interviews over the phone or on campus
* Candidates will meet with members of the Trianz team to learn more about the Trianz culture and environment
These are the most common elements of our interviewing process. However, as you go through the process, you may also encounter other types of assessments. If this is the case, you will be informed at an appropriate point.
